Winsome Lady returns to Hillyards for repairs to the stem and sterngear
The first attempts to cure the leaks.
The rot in the deadwood around the stern tube
is cut out, refilled and a new oak plate is ready for fixing
The garboards are removed at Birdham
Shipyard.
The rib structure of Winsome Lady is barely
visible. Each rib had to be lengthened by means of a scarph to make a flush fit
onto the keel.
New pieces of oak are scarphed onto each
rib.
The very special moment when the new garboards
are ready to be fitted. Note the wonderful grain pattern on the
afromosia
Final checks are made and a new coat of
antifoul is applied before going back to sea.
